This Time It Is Different
Since entering the financial services industry in 1991, I have never witnessed or experienced conditions (tariffs) impacting on the markets like we are currently seeing.
Never!
So, when I sit here and I go back into history for ideas and lessons learned over three decades, I run through the litany of all the previous major market issues during my career and see if we ever experienced anything like those before:
1994 Credit Crisis aka Great Bond Massacre - Never
Dot.com bubble – Never
Terror attacks of 9/11 – Never
Financial/Banking/Housing Crisis – Never
COVID – Never
You see, every time it is always different…….
What wasn’t different? We have always come back and come out ahead of where we were before these events which we NEVER experienced before.
One thing that we did encourage then and certainly encourage now, an evaluation of your current strategies, plans, and investments. We have learned that sometimes strategies, plans and investments may need to be shifted or tweaked because things usually look different on the other side of these events.
Remember, you can choose to do something, or you can choose to do nothing. If you choose to do nothing, you choose to do something, you choose to do nothing.
We are here to help, you just need to ask.
This time it is different, but the outcome probably isn’t. Time will tell.
